Turista

September 30, 2015CityNo CommentsJustin Vawter
I love traveling. I like exploring new places. But let’s admit it, there are times where we are strangers in our very own land. Would you believe that the first time I’ve been to Quiapo Church was just last February? It’s sad but hey, it’s still not too late to explore the hidden places of our land right?

After our Mt. Balagbag and Maranat Falls Traverse escapade, my friends and I decided to do a quick tour along Intramuros, Manila. It was the first time we went out together that’s not mountain related. And that’s the best part of climbing, you get to meet cool friends whom you could hang out with (although SJ is already an old friend since she’s my high school classmate; I met Er on my Mt. Arayat climb).

With our cameras in hand, we toured the place and we’re literally like tourists, hence the title Turista. Anyways, here’s some of our shots specifically inside Casa Manila in Intramuros.

Explore your land. There’s always a new place to discover. This quick tour was so fun. It was a breather from the stressful academic life. Thanks to Er and Sj. Till our next adventure!
P.S. watch out for my next post. It’ll be so cool! After our shoot here in Casa Manila, we went to Manila Cathedral to do a creative shoot and the result was stunning. So excited to share it with you guys!
Cheers~!

Happy New Year guys! ❤✨ #2021
This year was a tough one. I lost my job and I had This year was a tough one. I lost my job and I had to go back home. I wasn't able to travel. I had to take a break from social media. I had to cut ties with people. I had to seek professional help for my mental health. However, despite those struggles, I have to say that this year forced me to take huge risks and it was worth it. I launched my own studio, Studio Vawter, and the business is doing really well. I reconnected and decided to keep only those who truly matter to me. I am now prioritizing myself above anyone else. I no longer crave other people's validation.

This may not be my favorite year but it reminded me to always stay grounded and be grateful. Tomorrow, we'll enter 2021 and I look forward to better things. I hope the same goes for you. Ikaw, what's your #TapangnaDisusuko story? #NescafeOriginal
I was browsing my Google Drive when I saw these ph I was browsing my Google Drive when I saw these photos again. These were the days where my life used to revolve around the mountains. I was climbing almost every weekend, meeting new people, creating friends, making new memories. Good times!!! ✨

Once this is all over, let's climb again? 🙏

Last month, I received a call from our hr telling Last month, I received a call from our hr telling me that I'm one of the employees that'll be laid off due to the pandemic. Last in, first out. I was kinda expecting it coz I'm basically on a no-work-no-pay setup since April. It was a rough time. I was emotionally unstable, bills were piling up, I'm basically a bum for 3 months taking on small projects just to sustain my daily living. I was hitting rock bottom. After that call, I knew I had to get my shit together.

The next day, I received some good news. I got 3 of my biggest contracts this year for #StudioVawter. I worked tirelessly and it's not always a happy episode. There were days where I had to work double time and sometimes that means no holidays. But working on my own studio was extremely fun. In just 6 months, I was able to exceed my annual salary back when I was working in the corporate world. But that also means more stress and more bills, I had to invest on new stuff, I had to study harder, I had to sacrifice a lot to reach where I am now.

Today, I'm just grateful to the Universe!! What's the point of this point? Wala, gusto ko lang iflex na nakabili na ako sa wakas ng ipad and apple pencil!!! Tagal kong pinagipunan to mga bes. Hahahaha! Supposed to buy the pro 2020 but realized that air 3 was a better and more cost-effective option.

But yeah, life can be tough but trust the Universe. It's always gonna guide you in the right path. Also, when life gives you lemons, don't just make a lemonade. Build a fucking lemonade stand!! ✨
May you always find peace within yourself. Good mo May you always find peace within yourself. Good morning from Studio Vawter! ✨

Funny how fast time flies by. Exactly two years ag Funny how fast time flies by. Exactly two years ago today, I finished my week-long backpacking trip in Butuan-Surigao-Dinagat Island-Siargao. I remember how it feels to live that carefree life. Looking back, I can't believe I was able to do all those things. I was able to travel while working and studying full time. It was a fun time.

Now, things have completely changed. I'm stuck in my room working on a design studio I recently started. Do I have any regrets? Definitely none. I knew that one day, things would change and these will just be memories I'm going to share. My life lesson: keep on creating memories. No matter what do you, create them. Because one day you'll look back and finally say, it was all worth it. ✨
