One place I am definitely in love with is the province of Rizal. There’s just so many place to go to and for this travel guide series, I present to you our Tanay Adventure. Tanay is a huge place and offers so many travel destinations: from mountains to falls to even lakes, it’s a complete adventure on its own. And to start my Tanay Adventure guide, let’s go to our first stop: Daranak and Batlag Falls.
Daranak Falls
Daranak Falls is just a couple of minutes away from the highway. The only mode of public transport here is via tricycle. Fare is around Php 200 per trike which is good for 4-5 people (you can have the option to rent it for a whole day and go to other destinations like Calinawan Cave and Parola which I’ll post in the next coming days).
Entrance to Daranak Falls is Php 50 per head. There are cottages inside which you can rent.
Batlag Falls
During our trip here, Daranak Falls was very crowded (it was a Sunday) so we just decided to go to Batlag Falls which is literally above Daranak. Personally I prefer Batlag Falls though you have to pay another Php 100 entrance fee. It was worth it though.
Do Not Expect
To set proper expectations, I do have to say I was a bit disappointed with Daranak and Batlag Falls. Yes they are still beautiful and I did enjoy our stay here but to give you a heads up, the place is already developed. It’s like a park with concrete flooring. There were no trekking spots. It’s actually like going to a public resort with natural falls. Also, DO NOT GO HERE ON WEEKENDS. See the photo above? That’s just the pathway going to Daranak Falls. Sadly, it’s overcrowded. There were like a hundred cars parked outside (no kidding!). But yeah, the falls is still a must-visit in Tanay.
How To Go Here
The easiest and cheapest route is via Starmall.
1. From Starmall ride a jeep or fx bound to Tanay. Fx fare is around Php 70. Drop off at Tanay Market.
2. Ride a trike going to Daranak Falls. Trike is around Php 200. Good for 3-4 pax.
Next on the blog: Calinawan Cave!
Cheers~!

I did not expect that much people! Went to Daranak Falls about 2 years ago and my friends who went recently had been telling me that it is overcrowded–but didn't know it was as bad as that. Your pictures are wonderful though. š
