Imagine yourself as the first guest of a new hotel. The pool is all yours. Special food. And a room all to yourself. That’s what I experienced at Coron Soleil Garden Resort, a 4-star hotel in Coron, Palawan. Best part is, I’m excited to share to you my entire experience so you’ll understand why I have so much love for this hotel. This is the last part of my #BudgetTrip ft #BTCoron. Enjoy!
BEYOND THE SUN
Soleil means “sun” in French and Coron Soleil Garden Resort indeed became my sun during my rainy stay in Coron. I was supposed to stay for a night only but because my flight got cancelled due to the bad weather, I extended for another day.
Being the first guest was an exciting experience because I got to see the resort before it even opens in the next couple of weeks. It’s like getting an exclusive preview.
The resort is located in the town center, just one tricycle away from the municipal hall. However, it’s not in the main highway (it’s actually a bit far compared to other hotels although it’s still walk-able) which is a good thing if you want extra privacy.
A FIRST LOOK
The hotel doesn’t look fancy from the outside but once you enter, you’ll be amazed at how great the ambiance is. The pool looks so inviting and the rooms are designed like villas. The restaurant is located in the main building and there’s a bar located outside, just beside the pool.
NIGHT LIGHTS
If you think the hotel looks great already, wait till you see it at night time. The whole place exudes grandeur. The lights at the pool adds that sophisticated vibe to it.
SOLEIL EXPRESS
Tight on a budget? Coron Soleil has a 3-star budget hotel called Soleil Express where you can book a room at a lower rate without sacrificing quality experience and service. Soleil Express is located at the rear side of the garden resort. The rooms here are simpler compared to the Garden Resort but they’re still nice. Also, do take note that the entrance to the Soleil Express is different from the Garden Resort.

FINAL VERDICT
Whether you are looking for comfort or affordability, Coron Soleil has it for you. The ambiance alone makes the experience already grand. Although the TV signal only features local cable which can be disappointing and the room light can be distracting (there’s a dim glow from the cove lighting), it’s still a great hotel. You may have a hard time getting a tricycle though but the good thing is, you can just request for one at the reception. Speaking of the reception, it’s really funny how the chairs resemble pews making it look like a chapel.
While the idea of creating a budget hotel adjacent to the garden resort is really nice, the separate entry may be a turn off. The division can be pretty disappointing but hey, you do get what you pay for. Besides, you can still enjoy the amenities like the pool since there’s a small hallway connecting the budget hotel to the garden resort. You also have to take note that there’s a separate cafe for the two hotels for the free breakfast but you’re still free to dine at whichever you prefer.
I must admit that there are some minor lapses during my stay since it’s not fully operated yet but I can assure you that Coron Soleil is definitely a hotel you should consider if you want some real stay cation.
