Ever wanted to learn a new language? Or how about meet new friends? Well, why not both? With Hello Pal, you get the best of both worlds. It’s like Google Translate + WeChat + Tinder all rolled into one.
The Art of Language
I have always been a fan of learning language. Perhaps it’s because of my addiction to Asian stuff (super fan of Taiwanese and Thai movies and series). Before, I’ve tried learning Mandarin Chinese via LiveMocha. I’ve been watching YouTube tutorials as well and even bought Chinese-English dictionaries. Since we don’t have a foreign language class on our curriculum, most of my knowledge were self-taught.
When I started traveling, I realized the importance of knowing another language. I remember how two Chinese guys started talking to me when I went to the airport to pick some stuff a couple of weeks ago. They noticed my phone (which was Mi, a popular Chinese brand) and that started our conversation. We chatted for a while since the flight was delayed for around 2 hours. Luckily, I can understand basic Mandarin so we really got along. It’s really an advantage when you know another language especially when traveling to a foreign land. But what if you don’t know anything? That’s where Hello Pal comes in. It’s a new app introduced to me and I really find it cool.
Hello there Hello Pal
Hello Pal is a social media platform for learning a language. It has tons of cool feature such as connecting with other people from anywhere in the world. Also, you can download a phrasebook where you can learn and study a new language even if you’re offline.
There’s an available audio recording where you can listen how the words should be pronounced correctly. You can also record your own reply. What I really love about this app is that it’s not just about basic words. If you’ll notice, the word good is in red which means that if you click it, a pop-up will appear giving you other alternative words. Also, there’s a literal English translation below so you’ll understand the sentence structure of the language.
Another thing that I love about Hello Pal is that they’re easy to use. The dashboard looks clean and there’s a lot of tutorial on the app too. Here’s some screenshot of how the app looks like:
You can also play games with friends.
The best feature of the app would have to be the integrated translator. Here you can chat with other people using the automatic translator.
Your Travel Buddy
If you’re a traveler, this is definitely a great app for you. You can chat with locals without having any problem. With the translator, it’s now easy communicating with other people.
Hello Pal is available on Android and iOS. There are multiple phrasebooks available too such as Chinese, French and Japanese. You may check the app here.
Cheers~!
