White Water Rafting? Laguna? Yep, you’ve read that right. When you think of White Water Rafting, one thing that automatically comes to mind is Cagayan De Oro. But now, you can enjoy this kind of adventure within just 3 hours away from Manila. Cool right? And I was really lucky to be one of the firsts to try this adventure. Located south of Manila, Camp Allen in Majayjay, Laguna features this 2.5 hour rafting trip consisting of 21 rapids.
It’s very perfect since you can just finish the whole adventure including the travel time back and forth in just one day. So if you’re looking for a fresh spot to visit, this one’s perfect for you.

If you are going for a day trip, it’s best suggested that you leave Manila by around 6-7am. The earlier the better. For the directions, you can go direct to Camp Allen at Php 2500/pax. Inclusive are the meals, transportation to Majayjay, use of rubber boats and gears and packed lunch at the end of the trip plus transfer back to Camp Allen.
Or you can go to Great Sights Travel and Tours (they were the one who organized our trip). They have packages which includes transfer coming from Manila. For further directions, read here.
Before experiencing the white water rafting adventure, you have to walk around a kilometer from the jump off down to the river. Then your 10-km stretch adventure will start. It will take around 2.5-3 hours before you reach the end point. At the middle of the track, there will be a spot where you can dive and take a swim. The track crosses two cities with the starting point in Majayjay and ends at Magdalena.
At the end of the track, you’ll find a bahay kubo where you can have your packed meal which is included in the package. You’ll have a great view of the rapids there. Also, they have a shower wherein you can take a bath and change your clothes before going back to Camp Allen.
It was definitely an experience for me! For first timers, here’s a quick tip:
- Bring sunscreens
- Make sure you have waterproof bags/cameras
- Bring sandals (trekking sandals are perfect!)
- Wear comfortable clothes. The thinner the cloth, the better because once it gets wet, it’ll be heavy. I suggest wearing trunks or shorts.
- Don’t wear accessories. It might get lost in the rapids.
- Make sure you have your full gear. It’s dangerous.
The White Water Rafting Adventure at Camp Allen is considered to be level 3 which means it runs from moderate to difficult. Perfect time to visit are during rainy season which is from January-February since the water level is higher.
