Orion Hotel and Cafe, Tutuban Center, Manila

If you’re looking for an affordable hotel within Manila without sacrificing quality, I would definitely recommend Orion Hotel in Tutuban Center. Tutuban Center is considered a shopping haven as it is within Divisoria, a shopping district known for cheap finds and its night market. Just a note though, Tutuban Center is far from the airport but if you’re up for some shopping, this is the place to be.

Orion Hotel

Orion Hotel is located at the 3rd floor inside Tutuban Center mall. It has an entrance on the side so you can access it once the mall closes. Since it occupies only 1 floor, it’s quite surprising that it has 41 rooms.

We stayed at the Deluxe Twin/Queen room and I was really surprised at how cozy the room is. It’s well maintained and the ambiance is nice. It also has a working desk. The only downside is there is only one outlet available and it’s located below the working desk. I wish it had another outlet near the side table.

The next morning, I transferred to my friends’ room which is the Superior Room.

The hotel also features a small cafe called Orion Cafe although you have to go out of the hotel (it’s just adjacent to the hotel) to access it. I’ve got the chance to try it before and again it did not disappoint. It’s really affordable especially if you’ll be staying at the hotel. The prices are fair enough (pasta is Php 129, breakfast meal is Php 139, iced and blended drinks is Php 135 for medium and Php 155 for large) and every stay gets you a complimentary breakfast from the cafe (go for breakfast in bed!). Personal fave includes the Herbed Chicken Pasta, Smoked Fish Tomato Pasta and Mocha Caramel Frappe.

What to do in Tutuban

So what should you do in Tutuban? As of writing, there’s a Christmas Carnival where you can check out rides like the carousel and the epic flying fiesta! Also, you may want to try the street foods. And Tutuban wouldn’t be Tutuban without some shopping spree. Trust me, it’s a shopper’s paradise!

Final Thoughts

Orion Hotel and Cafe is something you should add to your list if you’re looking for a place to stay. It’s secured, clean and staff is very welcoming. I wasn’t expecting that my staycation here would be great considering that Divisoria is known as a place filled with pickpockets and thieves. I’d say for the price, you get more of what you have paid for. Really recommending this place. Be careful going out at night though. It’s still scary outside.

Room Rates go from Php 1,500-5,000. You may check the promos and book at www.orionhotel.com.ph

Happy Holidays! Cheers to an awesome year!
