It’s adventure time! Last week, we explored the city of Majayjay, Laguna. Located 120 kilometers south of Metro Manila, this small city is around 2-3 hours drive away from the Manila. Famous for its church, Saint Gregory the Great Parish Church, which is considered to be one of the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, the city is also now promoting its 21 rapid water rafting adventure (which I was able to try!).
Anyways, here’s a visual diary and tour of my exploration to this hidden gem in the south.
We first dropped by Camp Allen where we were welcomed with a breakfast. Camp Allen is the one facilitating the White Water Rafting Adventure which we are about to experience. Together with Great Sights Travel and Tours, we rode a van going to our first stop where the things we’ll be needing for the adventure are stocked. From this point, we rode a jeepney all the way to the municipal hall.
Just across the street from the municipal hall, you’ll see the Saint Gregory the Great Parish Church. And I just have to say, the facade is divine! After that, we continued on until we reached our jump off point.
From the jump off point, you have to walk around a kilometer or two to reach the base where the river and bridge lies. This will serve as the starting point for the white water rafting adventure. Note: lots of selfies ahead. Don’t say you haven’t been warned. Haha!
Met a lot of cool bloggers and travelers including Clarisse during this trip. And she’s a licensed architect! Would you believe it? Looks like I’ll be like her soon! Architect slash adventurer.
This is it! Time for my white water rafting adventure! But I’ll be cutting this post for now (since apparently, it’s too long already) so do check out my second post where I’ll be sharing you my whole adventure in the water. It’s a whole lot of fun, I’m telling you. As for now, I’ll leave you with this details.
There are two ways to go Majayjay, Laguna. If you have a car, you can take the SLEX and go straight to the end of the express way and head to Calamba exit. If you are going to commute, you take the buses in Buendia (Gil Puyat – LRT) bus terminal.
Or you can go direct to Camp Allen or contact Great Sights Travel and Tours. They are the one organizing the tours and they have packages with pick up, transfer and return in Manila.
The easiest way is to call Great Sights office at (632) 254 7588-91 and book your visit to the site. They will organize everything including pick up, transfer and return.
